Sophia graduated with a B.S. in civil engineering from The University of Alabama in Spring of 2025. During her time as an undergraduate student, she was president of both Young Water Professionals and Chi Epsilon, where she led a guest speaker series that exposed students to opportunities in the water industry. To gain relevant field experience in water treatment, Sophia spent the summer of 2024 in Cape Coast, Ghana, on an NSF IRES grant investigating threats and solutions related to onsite sanitation and sea level rise on coastal groundwater resources. Additionally, she spent five semesters researching the source of pollution in Alabama waterways while at UA. Sophia was also a member of the inaugural class at the Shelby Institute for Policy and Leadership at UA.
