Degree: Master’s of Science in Civil Engineering

Year in Program: 2nd year

Jasmijn is a Master’s student in Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering at the University of Alabama. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Soil, Water and Atmosphere from Wageningen University & Research in the Netherlands. Next to her education she is a Graduate Research Assistant for which she is doing research on flood modeling in urban coastal areas, working together with the Lower Mississippi River Forecast Center to apply a hydraulic model of a river system to investigate the impacts of future flooding conditions on localized flood extent. This work in Louisiana is also investigating approaches to flood inundation modeling and ways to use river forecast center localized modeling knowledge to investigate climate change impacts on flooding. Specific interest includes climate change impact, water resources, hydrology, (hydrologic) modeling and water prediction.
