Fitsume is a Ph.D. student at the University of Alabama, department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering. His Ph.D. research employs a global hydrological model to assess water footprint and scarcity. He was a summer Institute fellow at the National Water Center Innovators Program Summer Institute in 2022. He obtained both his B.Sc. and M.Sc. from Addis Ababa University where he also worked as a lecturer. Before joining UA, he was also a hydrologist in multiple projects in Ethiopia.
