Department: Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering

Degree: Ph.D.

Habtamu Tamiru is a second-year Ph.D. student in civil, construction, and environmental engineering at The University of Alabama. His research focuses on large-scale hydrologic processes and on improving parameterization of global functional equations using state-of-the-art machine learning techniques to enhance streamflow prediction in UB. He is also developing a county-level national livestock water-use (LWU) dataset, funded by the USGS under the CIROH project, which integrates livestock population data with animal physiological and environmental variables at fine temporal and spatial resolutions to support water-resource allocation in the agricultural sector.
