Basit Akinade is a Ph.D. student at The University of Alabama, focusing on advanced remote sensing and geoinformatics techniques to enhance hydrology and water resource management. He is currently working to build on his academic background and expertise in geomatics, specifically in the application areas of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), utilizing camera and LiDAR sensors. His Ph.D. dissertation will focus on exploring innovative techniques, such as the Internet of Things (IoT), machine learning, and GeoAI, for water observation, particularly in the areas of river bathymetry and discharge.
